Modular Concepts: Signal Function & Flow
Переглядів 5 тис.21 день тому
Modular synths allow us to be free, but often our own thinking can trap us. How many ways can signals function? What are the generic types of modules? An organized way to think about signal function & flow is the difference between luck and intention. Dave Linnenbank from Bitwig invites you to think about how to think, and make sounds… with purpose! 🤯🏃➡️ Contents: 0:00 We need a schema 🧠 3:58 ...
Let's Build a... Compressor
Переглядів 3,9 тис.21 день тому
Compression is a dark art, so it's time to think like a DSP programmer. In this video, we build a dynamics gate, look at the nature of amplitude and decibels, and then enter log space to make a tweakable compressor. Because in Bitwig, we can even build devices that lookahead into the future. 🔮🪵 Contents: 0:00 What is a compressor? And why? 3:07 A compressor uses one incoming signal as Audio, Co...

What is the tuning Phrygische Mütze? How can I find more about that? When I look it up, I get stuff about Phrygian cap in German.
It's a DAW that doesn't allow you to bounce mono tracks, It's very frustrating to me that they added plugins and didn't fix their lack of professional features or their midi implementation which needs a lot of work to be on par with other DAW's, I have no idea what their dev team is thinking but they're clearly delusional.
I couldn't figure out how to single out a single cycle of an oscillating signal. Can you please help me?
Drum Machine is superb. But I am facing one problem while using choked By or Choke Target. We have to open multiple time Choked by for choking multiple pad. Please make it stay on top of Daw after selecting one element.
this is very cool, but can you add a videoplayer vst, please)
Only the option to parc different audio samples in the clip launcher is a killer tool!
I love that Maximus is now in Bitwig :D
haha funny except that's not Maximus.
Can i make a OTT compressor style with this compressor +? Thank You
you're better off using Dynamics with multiband fx3/Freq Split instead, this is more like Glue Compressor that you might make to act *analogy*.
yea, the CEO of bitwig was the original inventor of the Ableton OTT btw ;) xfer OTT is your best bet, it's free
lost me at the very beginning of the video when he said phase modulation is the same as frequency modulation to the user.... You gotta be deaf to not hear the obvious differences between the sound of pm vs fm
Name of track please it’s really awesome
Perfect voice casting for this video. The narration sounded as precise and easy as the operations being described!
Give up a looper, all this stuff can be covered basically by already free plugins and stock, its cool sure, but a advanced Bitwig style looper plugin would be unique to the Daw game 🌀
I culdnt wait anymore for capture midi function so I bought Ableton
Taking notes ! 🤓
really bad song but so dope how he made it
This is the engineer taking off 🛫
Why it is not possible to record the audio that is received on the track?
Hello, is there a way to use Post Record Action and Post Record Delay on "Scenes" the same way they are used on Tracks? Thanks.
I might switch from ableton due to stability… id lose all of the ableton suite packs I have though
This is why I love bitwig
whoooghahahaha old days , knowing what it can do today is magnificent
I'm very glad I watched the whole thing. The very end was mind blowing. It sounded good too, lol.
Brilliant explanation, nice voice and huge knowledge. Do more.
I still believe that you will make an adequate export of the tracks.( Stems export with sound processing of groups, channels and master buses) Every time I export tracks and in the final stems summing I get a broken balance of my track, because BITWIG does not pass stems exports through the FX-channel processing chain, it's horrible!!! Please consider the opinions of professionals too! Thank you!
I agree, it comes automatically in Reaper. But this daw to soulless. I'm also tired of waiting for normal export tracks, it's not convenient to render one stem each time and wait for it to pass through the master channel. Because that's the only way to keep the sound that was there originally
This is so sick
Does Ben Jordan know about this?
Для чего это нужно? Для шума но не для музыки?
Whoa 🤯
What a great psychedelic patch.
"You could call it a hi-hat generator, I say let's build a Stewart Copeland". Game recognises game.
We can buy a compressor plugin, but we cannot buy Piano roll, ARA support or Video Playback support for Bitwig.
Bitwig is the best
Im a bit amazed by how nonchalantly you make such inspiring patches in a tutorial Great lessons!
much appreciated content type, so enjoyable!
I love bitwig so much. More than any other. I just wish it had some solution for ARA (or native tuning and spectral editing solution) Along with a totally revamped set of analysis tools (loudness, dynamic range, peak, rms, stereo etc. precision analysis tools would be great. I would love to only use bitwig instead of messing around in DAWs that aren’t nearly as inspiring! Anyway I shall update my plan soon! Great updates as always!
Personally I way prefer the mouse modifiers approach. Or ‘split under mouse cursor’ type actions in reaper. I hover over audio and press ‘s’ and it splits the audio. This way seems dated in comparison as I’m moving my right hand from mouse to keyboard constantly. But I get why many are excited about it. Good to have these anyway.
39:07 "Terminator" Main Theme
Very nice, thank you! Now… can you make a real time auto-tune?
wish I could like it 10X+
He's like the Bob Ross of synthesis!
It is all about Singal flow. Thanks Bitwig Studio for allowing this type of DAW- work flow. I’ll definitely use this information in a video soon 🔜.
Dead ass
Great to watch on Sunday, I feel like I'm in church.
I just love watching a video (which is one thing I do when I really need distraction from pain and can't manage something more active) done by someone like this guy, who knows his shit. It isn't just that we get the benefit of experience and expertise from someone who put time and talent into learning a subject. Being really good at something and being generous with that knowledge bespeaks a certain integrity and sense of responsibility for the things one does, which then extends to the sense that in sharing elements of the things one has learned to do, one doesn't simply advertise one's work. Passing on knowledge feeds a community and models the thought processes that facilitate developing expertise in a field and reflect the integrity of people doing the work. There are developers in this field, to return to the narrow example of audio-processing software, who have some expertise but lack the confidence and perspective to do education work along these lines, for fear of helping competitors. Which is a very silly way to think, but there are such people - and there are one or two not too far from the place where Bitwig has its home (among many other places). Anyway, thanks for a distracting, enjoyable bit of geeking out with this lovely DAW.
I really wanna try bitwig, i'm an fl addict but i think both can be used for different kind of projects :)
go for it, it's literally a click away.
UA-cam Hall of Fame video
Thank you for such a good explanation. I was asking a question on the topic, why connect modules everywhere? After watching this video more carefully now I realized that sound can be created from anything, processed and applied. I would like to make a suggestion to allow the user to use the mouse wheel to zoom in on text in module tooltips.
It's threshold, not thresh-hold.
Best way to teach how compressors work... Build one! Great video! The grid is powerful in many different ways.
Amazing Dave. How long does it take you to prepare a video like this? Your explanations are the best! 💥
